Premier Mike Rann must assure South Australian voters that the dirty tricks used by the Labor Party during the recent state election will not be seen this Saturday.
David Ridgway, Leader of the Legislative Council said that South Australian voter’s confidence in the electoral system has been badly damaged by the deception and trickery of Labor’s actions during the March 2010 state election campaign.
“Labor Party members and officials who only a few months ago saw fit to organise how-to-vote cards marked “Family First” to be handed out in marginal seats deceiving voters must not be able to operate this election,” Mr Ridgway said.”
“Labor will do and say anything to retain power.
“Mike Rann must publicly pledge that tomorrow there will be no repeat of the dirty tricks and misrepresentation we saw just five months ago.
“Although the practices have not been deemed illegal by the SA Electoral Commission they have undermined public confidence in our democracy.”
In May 2010 the SA Liberal Party moved that a select committee of the Legislative Council be appointed to inquire into and report upon campaign tactics used during the 2010 SA election.
