South Australian businesses are struggling under poor economic management by the Rann Government.
ABS business indicators released today, show South Australia is the worst performing of all States in both sales of goods and services and wage growth.
In seasonally adjusted terms, South Australia’s sales of goods and services fell by 0.6 per cent in the March quarter- the worst performing of all States.
South Australia’s wage growth decline of 1.7 per cent is compared to a national growth of 1.7 per cent during the same period. Again, South Australia was the worst performing of all States.
“South Australian businesses are the highest taxed in the nation and it’s clearly hurting their sales and in turn, their ability to pay their employees,” said Shadow Treasurer, Iain Evans.
“South Australia is struggling compete with other states.
“If the Government allows the mining super tax to be implemented unchanged, not only will the South Australian mining industry be hit with more expenses, but we will also see major job losses in mining and other sectors across the State.
“The figures released today seriously threaten Mike Rann’s jobs promise,” Mr Evans said.
