More transport chaos under Labor

Posted on February 24, 2011

Angry commuters were left stranded this morning after a train broke down on the Noarlunga line as Labor continues to neglect our public transport system.

Shadow Transport Minister Steven Griffiths said that South Australian commuters were suffering at the hands of Labor’s neglect.

“South Australia’s transport system is plagued with problems under Labor,” Mr Griffiths said.

“Labor has made a big song and dance about their transport upgrades but they cannot keep basic services running.

“For nine years Labor has neglected the public transport system leaving commuters to struggle with late buses and trains, dilapidated carriages, break downs and interchanges and train stations that aren’t safe.

“Labor is running an ageing bus fleet that in many cases is than 25 years old, they spent millions on trams that weren’t suited to our weather conditions and they have presided over so many break downs that commuters are losing faith in our public transport system.

“The least South Australians should be able to expect is to be able to get to work on time but Labor’s neglect has left our trains and buses in disarray.”
